Eric Thompson, Ph.D. Associate Professor, Department of Economics Director, Bureau of Business Research
Eric Thompson’s background is in urban and regional economics, which examines the structure of local economies and the reasons for state and local economic growth. Due to his background in agricultural economics, Thompson’s research has focused on factors influencing growth in rural as well as urban growth. More specifically, his research has examined how public policy, taxes and spending, infrastructure and education outcomes influence state and local economic growth. He has also conducted research on factors influencing outcomes for economic education and economic consequences of early care and education programs.
Thompson earned his doctorate in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a focus on community economic development.
