Professional Development Science and Math Summer Technology Institute

Engineering and Educational faculty at UNL developed the Professional Development Science and Math Summer Technology Institute, funded by CCPE, to meet a pressing training need for middle and high school teachers in the use of instructional materials that engage students and facilitate learning for complex math and science concepts and principles. Advances in technology allow previously static math and science facts and formulas to come alive. In a 3-day workshop, engineering faculty present multimedia demonstrations focusing on car safety crash tests, bridge design, and traffic signaling. Teacher participants develop multimedia resources using concepts from these topics and are using them as instructional support in the classroom to teach math and science concepts.
