School Psychology Futures: Family School Partnership Project

At the 2002 Multisite Conference on the Future of School Psychology, leaders in the field met to discuss and extend current psychological practices in response to the diverse needs of children, families, and schools. At the center of this work are efforts by school psychologists to promote the implementation of evidence-based models of practice. The purpose of this grant is to continue the momentum of this group and to develop, organize, and disseminate materials that will enable school psychologists to promote meaningful, productive partnerships between families and schools.

The Futures Task Force on Family-School Partnerships developed action plans to promote collaborative partnerships between families and schools. These action plans described modules and other materials that were developed to extend the work of this Task Force from a localized group to trainers, practitioners, and school psychology leaders around the country. Modules were developed for the following domains: Overview of Family-School Partnerships, Conditions for Enhancing Family-School Partnerships, Cultural Considerations, Family-School Interventions with Preschool Children, Parent Consultation, Parent Education and Parent Involvement, Family-School Collaboration, and Parent Training and Family Interventions. Each module contains practice/implementation guidelines, powerpoint presentations, handouts, discussion questions, videos, and reference lists. Materials were developed by students and faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln along with trainers and practitioners across the country.

Modules are available on-line at http://fsp.unl.edu
