The Power of Documentation: Children's Learning Revealed
The Power of Documentation: Children's Learning Revealed was a museum-quality exhibit created by the Chicago Children's Museum and Chicago Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC). The exhibit displayed powerful examples of young children's writing, drawing, painting, and construction, accompanied by transcripts of children's words and the notes and reflection of teachers. Through the displays, the exhibit provided a window into the processes of young children's learning and the critical role of adults as teachers in a way that was both beautiful and easy to understand.
Funds from the Cooper Foundation brought this exhibit to Omaha for display as part of the Midwest AEYC Conference and then to Lincoln Children's Museum for the summer of 2006. In combination with a series of public awareness and professional development events and training sessions, two main objectives, to promote public awareness of early childhood issues and early childhood workforce education and training, were accomplished, improving the lives of Nebraska children and families.
