Welcome!

The Future of School Psychology Multisite Conference (November, 2002) generated significant interest and important agendas related to school psychology research, training and practice in the 21st Century. Among the areas delineated as essential for our future was “families.”  Participants at the conference and at satellite sites generated goals and action steps related to evidence-based approaches for establishing family-school partnerships. As a result of these goals, two sets of materials have been developed.

The first set of materials presents the work of the Future of School Psychology Task Force on Family-School Partnerships and focuses on processes for partnering with families. Topics include evidence-based models of parent consultation, parent involvement, and family-school collaboration, to name a few. These materials were designed for trainers, practitioners, graduate students, and researchers who are interested in evidence-based family-school partnership programs. They are appropriate for pre-service and in-service purposes.

The second set of materials builds on previous work and was developed in collaboration with the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSU-HSC) and Human Development Center (HDC).  Partnering strategies for specific home- and school-based targets are the focus of these materials. Examples of topics include strategies for enhancing communication and IEP meetings, homework, and reading and math interventions, among others. The intent is to provide school personnel with evidence-based interventions and tools to improve their relationships with families.

It is recommended that users peruse the various links and consider various ways that these materials can be used flexibly and proactively as they consider creating priority agendas promoting family-school partnerships to support children’s learning and development.

The materials are available for use, free of charge.  Downloading and use of materials (forms, handouts, PowerPoint slides, activities, and other documents and training materials) is permissible, pending appropriate credit be given to the Future of School Psychology Task Force on Family-School Partnerships in collaboration with the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSU-HSC) and Human Development Center (HDC).
