UNL faculty and staff contributed hundreds of art supplies to Nebraska’s disadvantaged children this holiday season.

UNL faculty and staff have again demonstrated that to give is to receive – especially during the holidays.

CYFS recently completed its fourth annual Gift of Creativity donation drive in an effort to provide art supplies to disadvantaged children, families and schools throughout Nebraska this holiday season.

Faculty and staff from UNL’s College of Education and Human Sciences, Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, Office of Research, and Department of Communications Studies contributed crayons, markers, paints and many other supplies throughout late November and early December. CYFS is distributing these supplies to Bennet Elementary School, Blumfield Elementary of Ralston Public Schools, Loup City K-6 Public School and Oakland-Craig Elementary School.

“We see these efforts as much more than just our job – we see them as part of a mission that extends far beyond our office walls and campus borders,” said CYFS Director Susan Sheridan. “Offering these basic supplies to children helps brighten their holiday season and cultivate their creativity, which is a cornerstone of healthy development and future success that we believe should be encouraged in all children. We thank all who donated for their generosity!”
