Description
Deep disparities exist across this country related to student access to school mental health services. Many of these disparities are often attributed to socio-cultural, economic and/or political factors felt to be on the fringes of what schools can control or influence. However, schools do control their policies, practices, and narratives surrounding school mental health and many marginalize its importance in strategic planning and student achievement. This session will explore the importance of viewing school mental health through a public policy lens that prioritizes and communicates multi-tiered systems of mental health and social emotional learning supports as integral to student and school success.
