Abstract
This project is funded by a subcontract from the Nebraska Department of Education.
The Nebraska Team Nutrition will work with child care facilities participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to provide education and support on childhood obesity prevention efforts. The grant will focus on:
- providing online training opportunities that incorporate and implement the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and CACFP new meal pattern requirements for Nebraska child care providers participating in CACFP;
- adapting environments, improving practices, and adopting policies through state and local level efforts by implementing the evidence-based program entitled the Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care (Go NAP SACC); and
- expanding training programs that incorporate and implement recommendations regarding family style meals with Nebraska child care providers participating in CACFP.
This grant will expand previously tested programming — specifically Go NAP SACC, EatPlayGrow and the Ecological Approach to Family Style Dining (EAT-FSD) — across Nebraska to reach child care providers.
