Abstract

The Nebraska Bureau of Educational Research and Field Services, housed within the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools, will contract with the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) to evaluate the impact of School Improvement Grants (SIG) on educational improvement in Title I schools in Nebraska. This project represents the partial implementation of an evaluation framework proposed to NDE at the conclusion of a similar contract for 2013-14.

This evaluation requires the use of administrative data from the Nebraska Student and Staff Record System, coupled with data obtained from participating districts and schools. Longitudinal data will be requested at the student level in an attempt to provide a rigorous quantitative evaluation of the impact of SIGs on student outcomes. Qualitative data collected by NDE will be used to supplement the quantitative analyses and to inform a framework for assessing implementation fidelity. The primary deliverable for this project includes a summary of the evaluation findings in the form of a white paper and subsequent presentation to NDE personnel.
