CYFS is presenting a free rural education research webinar Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to noon Central Standard Time. The webinar is open to all rural practitioners at school, district, state, and regional levels who routinely collaborate with researchers to design and implement educational research activities.
The webinar highlights strategies for promoting productive research partnerships between practitioners and researchers working in rural settings.

Presenters include Susan Sheridan, CYFS director and director of the National Center for Research on Rural Education; and James Bovaird, director of the Nebraska Academy for Methodology, Analytics, and Psychometrics.
Sheridan and Bovaird will discuss four factors to consider when conducting research in rural settings:
- Study design
- Recruitment
- Implementation support and monitoring
- Data collection
The webinar is hosted by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences and the REL Central Leadership Area: Rural Education Cross-REL Rural Education Working Group.
