Where did you work prior to joining CYFS? What was your role there, and what did it entail?
“Prior to joining CYFS, I worked at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in the Radiology Department as an administrative research associate. I supported a variety of research administration activities. I worked closely with both clinical and research faculty. My responsibilities included coordinating grant submissions, assisting with project management and monitoring research workflows. Through this experience, I gained valuable insight into the research lifecycle and developed a strong foundation in research support.”
How did you become interested in your field?
“My career path evolved through a combination of personal interests and professional experiences. During my undergrad, I initially pursued a degree in social work because I was passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in people’s lives. While working directly with teens and families, I realized that although I deeply enjoyed supporting those populations, I wanted to explore alternative ways to contribute to meaningful outcomes.
“As I researched different career opportunities, I became interested in research coordination and administration. I was fortunate to secure a position at UNMC, where I was introduced to the world of research and grant management. Through that experience, I discovered how critical grants and research support are to advancing the health and wellness of our communities. The opportunity to contribute behind the scenes to impactful research projects sparked my interest.”
What are you looking forward to at CYFS?
“I am excited to continue expanding my knowledge and expertise in grants administration while contributing to the meaningful work being done at CYFS. I look forward to collaborating with experienced professionals. CYFS offers a unique opportunity to be part of an organization whose mission aligns closely with my desire to support community focused work, and I’m eager to contribute to the success of both current and future projects.”
What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
“Outside of work, I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible. Last summer, I started hiking, and it has remained one of my favorite activities. I appreciate the opportunity it provides to stay active and spend time in nature. I also enjoy reading whenever I have the chance.”
