Michael Hebert, associate professor of special education and communication disorders, led a May 1 virtual presentation in the Spring 2020 Methodology Applications Series. About 40 people attended his presentation via Zoom video conference.
His presentation, “Seeing the Forest Plot for the Trees: Using Meta-Analysis to Synthesize Research,” is now available on video.
His presentation provided an overview of advancements in meta-analytic techniques, including robust variance estimation, multi-level modeling approaches and meta-analytic structural equation modeling (SEM). Various ways these techniques impact research questions were discussed, along with literature searches, coding, data structuring and analyses, and limitations and factors that can produce flawed interpretations.
The Methodology Applications Series is sponsored by the MAP Academy. The series will resume in fall 2020.
